Some of the downloads are missing a file for the PowerPoint tutorial this file is Mso97v.dll, you can download it here. When unzipped put it in the tutorial folder. If your have Microsoft2000 you can download a viewer from Microsoft here

When installing the MS Access97 driver, the only box that should be ticked is the Jet3.5 box, all the others, including the ODBC Direct, Excel, Paradox etc should be un-ticked.

HOW TO INSTALL

To install Steel Stubs, insert the CD and run the setup programme.

(If you have a zip file, unzip the file and then run setup.exe from the stubs directory.)

When prompted for the directory path, anywhere will do but it’s probably best to put it under the Program Files directory, which is the default.

After installation, run Autocad and go to Tools/Options, click the files tab.

Under Support File Search Path, add the path to the directory created for Steel Stubs.

Now click Apply and close the Options dialog.

To load stubs.arx, from the tools menu select Load Applocation.

Navigate to the Steel Stubs directory and highlight stubs.arx. Click Load.

You can now use Startup Suite from this dialog to have stubs.arx load automatically.

Click Close.

All we have to do now is load the Stubs partial menu.

From the Tools pulldown menu select Customize Menus.

From the next dialog select BROWSE.

In the next dialog change the Files of Type setting to *.mnu and then use the Up One Level button etc. to go to the Steel Stubs directory, highlight Stubs.mnu and then click Open.

Click Load, click Menu Bar, from Menu Group select STUBS, click Modify in the Menu Bar list (or which ever one you want to put Stubs before), now click Insert and then Close.

Stubs should appear in the pulldown menu’s.

A toobar menu is also available if you choose to use it.

If you should ever want to remove Steel Stubs from your computer use Windows Add/Remove to Uninstall Steel Stubs.

DATABASE ENGINE

The database files Sectioms.mdb and Custom.mdb are Microsoft Access 97 files, the Microsoft

Jet 3.5 engine is used by Steel Stubs to operate with them.

Newer computers using the MS Office 2000 or Microsoft Access 2000 may not have this driver installed.

If, while using Steel Stubs, you get an error message saying "Cant open Sections.mdb" or something similar, it may be because the Jet 3.5 engine is not available.

On the CD, the sub-directory /engine contains the installation files for Jet 3.5.

If you have the downloaded version, the /engine sub-directory will be wherever you unzipped the files to.

Read the Readme.txt file in this sub-directory for installation info.

TUTORIAL.

On the CD, in the sub-directory /tutorial, is a Power Point file with a demonstration/tutorial presentation.

To run the presentation, insert the CD, use Explorer to log onto the drive and use the Power Point viewer Ppview32.exe to open the file Stubs.pps.

If you have the downloaded version, the /tutorial sub-directory will be wherever you unzipped the files to.

Although Steel Stubs is simple to use, it is advisable to view this tutorial before plunging in.
